Every Mind Matters: action for a mentally thriving Australia

The Every Mind Matters action plan is about recognising that the solving the mental health crisis requires direct action on the drivers of mental ill-health, as well as accessible high quality treatment services.  It demands a hard conversation about the policies, cultures and norms that are harming the mental health and wellbeing of Australians, to create an Australia where every Australian has the chance to thrive.

For too long mental health challenges -- through stigma and shame -- have been seen as individual concerns, requiring individual action. We reject that idea. Mental ill-health arises in a context: the public dimension of mental ill-health demands a collective response. And that response starts with all of us, the Australian people, activating our citizenship to demand that our leaders make mental health and well-being a top priority, at the centre of every aspect of national life.

Let’s create an Australia where every citizen – regardless of their circumstances – is able to lead their best, mentally healthy life. During Mental Health Month we're launching our Every Mind Matters campaign. We need citizen led action for the Australia we want and deserve.
