What is Australians for Mental Health (AfMH)?
Australians for Mental Health is a national grassroots organisation dedicated to driving meaningful change in Australia’s mental health and wellbeing.
We are building a citizen led movement across every part of Australia that connects the millions of Australians who care about mental health, so that we can:
- Build a collective voice, community by community, too powerful to ignore.
- Amplify the stories of everyday people, so that mental health reform genuinely meets the needs of citizens.
- Achieve tangible, practical changes that make a meaningful difference in the lives of Australians.
Why should I become a member?
By becoming a member of Australians for Mental Health, you are joining a citizen led movement putting mental health at the top of the national agenda.
As a member of Australians for Mental Health you will be helping turn good intentions into real action for lasting change. For too long mental health has been a second order priority for decision-makers – but together we can change that.
Who can become a member?
Members of Australians for Mental Health come from all walks of life, united by our united by our shared belief that Australia urgently needs to turn words into action: so that every Australian is valued, every Australian gets the care they need when and where they need it, and every Australian can live their best, mentally healthy life.
We have several membership options to suit your situation:
Ordinary – a standard membership for most people
Low Income/Student – membership for those with limited financial means
Household – membership for a family or other household living at the one address
Small Organisation – for sole traders and other professionals
Corporate – for businesses that want to contribute to mental health change
Sponsoring Corporate – for businesses looking to make a major partnership contribution to our work
Where does my membership money go?
Your membership fee goes 100% towards our work to make mental health a national top agenda. We are solely funded by people and organisations that believe in our mission and work.
What are the benefits of membership?
As a member, you will:
- Be able to join our monthly member meetings.
- Receive updates on mental health campaigns and policies
- Get early access to events and opportunities.
- Have the chance to contribute to surveys and consultations
- Help build a stronger movement for change
What kind of commitment is involved?
There’s no obligation to attend events or volunteer—though we welcome all levels of involvement. Your membership alone helps grow our collective voice.
How is my information used?
Your information is kept secure and confidential. We use it to keep you informed about AfMH activity and to help us understand the reach and diversity of our supporter base.
How can I get more involved beyond membership?
There are many ways to deepen your involvement—from volunteering and fundraising to becoming a campaign ambassador. We’ll keep you informed of opportunities as they arise.
Can I cancel or pause my membership?
