Petition: Every Mind Matters

The Every Mind Matters campaign is about recognising that the solving the mental health crisis requires direct action on the drivers of mental ill-health, as well as accessible high quality treatment services.

It demands a hard conversation about the policies, cultures and norms that are harming the mental health and wellbeing of Australians, to create an Australia where every Australian has the chance to thrive.

For too long mental health challenges -- through stigma and shame -- have been seen as individual concerns, requiring individual action. We reject that idea. Mental ill-health arises in a context: the public dimension of mental ill-health demands a collective response.

And that response starts with all of us, the Australian people, activating our citizenship to demand that our leaders make mental health and well-being a top priority, at the centre of every aspect of national life.

In the 2025 Federal Election we are asking all candidates to commit to making mental health and wellbeing a top priority.

Please sign the petition and share it with your friends and family so that anyone who wants to be elected to the next parliament understand that the people of Australia are demanding meaningful action on mental health and wellbeing!  You might also like to add your photo so that our politicians understand that there are real people -- everyday Aussies in their electorates -- who care deeply about creating an Australia where every person has their mental health needs met and where every person can live their best, mental healthy, life.

We, the undersigned Australians, believe that Every Mind Matters.  Australia needs to take urgent action to ensure that the mental health and wellbeing needs of every Australian is met, and that we shape Australia as a place where we can all live our best, mentally healthy lives.

That’s why we are asking government to:

  • Guarantee access to quality mental healthcare for every Australian regardless of circumstance, where and when we need it, at a price we can afford.

  • Genuinely listen to communities and invest in processes that allow every Australian community to come up with the solution that will make a difference locally;

  • Tackle the root causes of mental distress, so that we can reduce the number of people getting sick and calling on already stretched treatment services;

  • Pass a Wellbeing Act that makes mental health and wellbeing a whole-of-government responsibility, and requires governments to be accountable for mental health outcomes across the population.
