Linda Scott

Linda Scott, BSc (Psych); JP

Linda is an experienced board chair, director and mentor, currently serving as the Chair of CareSuper, an award winning industry superannuation fund with $53bn under management, and Chair of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation (ADF), founded by Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop to deliver evidence-based approaches to minimise alcohol and drug harm. She is a Director of the largest museum group in Australia, Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI) and a member of IFM Investors’ Director Nominations Committee. She also serves as an LGNSW Mayoral mentor and a Trustee of the AR Bluett Memorial Trust, which awards the prestigious annual Bluett Awards. 

Formerly, as an elected Councillor, Linda served as the City of Sydney's Deputy Lord Mayor from 2018 to 2019, and as a Labor Councillor on the City of Sydney Council, first elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2016 and 2021. She served on all the City's Committees, including the Central Sydney Planning Committee and successfully advocated for more affordable housing, green spaces, increased early education and care centres, new skate parks, and boosted city funding for climate change action.  

As a Councillor, Linda served as the President of the Australian Local Government Association from 2020 to 2024, and Local Government NSW from 2017 to 2021, having served on the board since 2015. She secured $25 billion for Australian local governments, successfully doubling NSW library funding and securing fairer and more transparent NSW electoral funding laws. She represented Australian councils on the National Cabinet (under Labor Prime Minister Albanese), the National Reform Federation Council (under Coalition Prime Minister Morrison), a range of ministerial councils including the Council of Federal Financial Relations (CFFR), the Energy, Climate Change and Environment Ministers' meetings, the Joint Council on Closing The Gap, Infrastructure and Transport Ministers' meetings, Planning and Building Ministers' meetings, Cultural Ministers' meetings and Local Government Ministers' meetings.  

Linda successfully secured Australia's commitment to the Coalition for High Ambition Multilevel Partnerships (CHAMP) at the COP28 World Climate Action Summit, re-established the annual Australian Council for Local Government (ACLG), bringing together Australia's 537 mayors with the Federal Government, and ensured local governments signed Australia's National Disability Strategy, National Housing Accord, National Agreement on Closing the Gap, and National Road Safety Strategy.  

She has served on the NSW Environmental Trust, CSIRO’s Ending Plastic Waste Mission, and the Regional Banking Taskforce. Linda has a BSc (Psychology) (1st) (UNSW) and GAICD
