Come together with fellow members to connect, share ideas, and hear the latest on our movement for mental health reform. We’ll share updates on what’s been happening and invite your thoughts on our next steps.
Our guest speaker will be Phillipa Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of Mental Health Victoria, the state’s independent peak body for mental health.
Phillipa is a health system leader and experienced mental health clinician with a background in emergency mental health, crisis and disaster response, and trauma and grief. She has led and contributed to research and system inquiries focused on Emergency Department presentations linked to homelessness and suicidality, psychiatric intensive care, and sexual safety within bed-based services.
Prior to joining Mental Health Victoria, Phillipa served as an Executive Director in the Victorian Department of Health, where she was responsible for mental health and drug law reform initiatives and implementation. She is committed to rigorous policy development, collaborative system leadership, and improving outcomes for people, families, and communities.
Australians for Mental Health members are currently establishing a working group focused on growing our community, strengthening member connections, and developing strong policy platforms for future campaigns. If that sounds like something you have thoughts on, don’t miss this meeting.
